European Movement of Artsakh calls on Kokoyti

The European Movement of Artsakh has welcomed the victory of the newly elected President of South Ossetia Alla Jioyeva, even though passions are still flaring and the elections have been declared as invalid in Ossetia.

The organization voices hope that there will be no more pressures and persecutions against journalists and civil society representatives during the president-elect's term in office and that South Ossetia and the country will enter a new stage of development.

At the same time, the organization calls on the outgoing president Eduard Kokoyti to put an end to anti-democratic actions and respect the people's choice, congratulate the winning candidate and help that serve as a precedent for the democratization of South Ossetia.

The European Movement of Artsakh is a non-governmental organization created in Karabakh in 2010 with the purpose of supporting the development of relations between the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and European organizations. It also makes efforts for the international community's recognition of Artsakh.

The organization carries out educational consulting and support through which youth of Artsakh participate in different international youth programs, including the programs organized by the Council of Europe and the European Union.
