Argument breaks out in National Assembly
On Wednesday, the National Assembly of Armenia will continue debating the bills proposed by the government.
NA Acting Chairman Samvel Nikoyan, who filed in for Hovik Abrahamyan after the latter resigned as Chairman of the National Assembly, regularly reminded MPs to prepare for the vote. However, the legislators continued leaving and entering the hall at will.
During the discussion of draft amendments to the Law on Parties, Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan expressed his concern over the diversity and formality of parties.
The parliament today started a heated discussion on the loan agreement signed between the Armenian Government and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development on additional funding for rapid restoration of irrigation systems.
Andranik Andreasyan, Chairman of the State Water Committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, said the $18 mln loan will be allocated for 25 years' period, with an annual interest rate of 1.5 percent. The money will be spent on restoration of water pipelines.
An argument broke out during the registration for speeches between the MPs and Samvel Nikoyan, who finally advised his fellow colleagues, "Sometimes wash your ears in order to hear your names."
Several MPs left the hall after Nikoyan's words.
