Ambassador visits Bacau
Armenian Ambassador to Romania Hamlet Gasparyan on November 26 visited Bacau city, which is the administrative center of the homonymous state.
During a meeting with the state authorities, Ambassador Gasparyan presented the decentralized cooperation that is starting between Armenia and Romania and brought up the example of the cognitive visit of a group of mayors to Armenia a month ago.
Ambassador Hamlet Gasparyan mentioned the importance that the Armenian government attaches to the development of decentralized cooperation with partnering countries. The state's public governor Catalin Dociu and the State Council member Konstantin Bogdan Seto shared the view that such horizontal ties contribute to the exchange of experience between territories and communities in local self-government, culture and education, as well as the promotion of joint projects in the spheres of tourism and local production.
During a meeting with members of the State Council, the sides reached an agreement on continuing contacts and taking steps to establish relations with one of Armenia's provinces. The Ambassador also discussed these issues in an interview with the local television station.
In the evening, Ambassador Gasparyan attended Brothers Garbis and Gabriel Dedeyan's jazz concert at the Mihayil Zhora Philharmonic Hall in Bacau. The concert was organized by the State Council, the Bakhu Municipality, the Gorge Apostu Cultural Center and the local chapter of the Union of Armenians of Romania.
The concert was preceded by an exhibition showcasing photos portraying the history of the local Armenian community, Armenian national costumes, books and journals about Armenians presented by President of the Union of Armenians of Bacau Vasile Hakob, reports the MFA Department of Press, Information and Public Relations.
