From monarchical to Islamist
According to initial data, the Islamist Party for Justice and Development won the parliamentary elections in Morocco. The official results will be announced on Monday.
These were the first elections after Muhammad VI declared to lay down some of his powers after protests held in spring 2011.
The Islamists' major competitor was the monarchical coalition. The elections were held with the participation of 31 political parties.
