Tomorrow the Committee on International Control over the Human Rights Situation in Belarus (representative of the Committee in Armenia is the Helsinki Association) will organize a picket in defense of lawyer Ales Belyatski in front of the Embassy of Belarus in Yerevan.

The actions in defense of Ales Belyatski will also be organized in Ukraine, Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

We remind that Head of Vesna Law-Defense Center, Vice-President of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) Ales Belyatski today was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison. The Belarussian authorities arrested him for overtly political motives and charged him with avoiding paying taxes. Amnesty International has recognized Belyatski a captive to remorse.
