Criminal case filed against HRAK Chairman

A criminal case has been filed against Harutyun Arakelyan, Chairman of the Ramkavar-Azatakan Party of Armenia (HRAK). He is accused of embezzling funds from the sale of party's property. Our sources at the Prosecutor's Office confirmed the information.

Spokesperson for the Prosecutor's Office Sona Truzyan said that a case has been filed under Article 179 (Part 2) of the Criminal Code (appropriation of property).

On August 17, HRAK member Slava Sargsyan filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office alleging that Harutyun Arakelyan had appropriated the party's office. He stated that Arakelyan and HRAK Secretary Karen Kakoyan were engaged in machinations. Slava Sargsyan attached an article from "Azg" daily to the complaint which was later forwarded to the police for further verification. A criminal case was filed as a result," said Sona Truzyan.
Police Department Kentron Division is in charge of investigation.

According to our information, Harutyun Arakelyan was invited to the police on Saturday but he has not showed up so far.
