S. Sargsyan: “Taron will not disappoint us”
Serzh Sargsyan today participated in the official swearing-in of Yerevan's new Mayor Taron Margaryan. He congratulated the new mayor, wishing him efficient work and success in that honorable and responsible position.
At the same time, Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to former Mayor Karen Karapetyan for his contribution to Yerevan's history.
"Taron Margaryan is not a new person in Armenia's local government system. He gained public confidence and respect when he worked as head of the Avan community.
Taron, you have no right to disappoint us and our fellow citizens. We support you and are always ready to assist you. But every man, every state official, must forge his own fortune. It is necessary to form a large team of supporters and solve the problems that Yerevan faces, alleviate the burden of our citizens and make our capital a more comfortable place for its citizens and foreigner," said Sargsyan.
"The mayor and city council should keep close contacts with the public to understand and address their problems. It is necessary to unite people and help them realize that they are not only the masters of their homes, but also their yards, districts and the whole city. This is the main mission of Mayor, City Council and Municipality.
I am sure that Mr. Margaryan is ready to perform this role with dignity," he said.
