PM meets Ashton

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policies Catherine Ashton who is on a regional visit to Armenia. "Recently our relations with the European Union have entered a new stage of development. As a result, we have brought a new sweep to reforms in Armenia," the Prime Minister said as he greeted the guest.

Catherine Ashton expressed satisfaction with the development of Armenia-EU relations. The EU High Representative said she was well aware of the amount of efforts that Armenia is making with the EU for the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone and the Associated Agreements. Mentioning that the EU is impressed with Armenia's advancement, Catherine Ashton underlined that there are all the prerrequisites for further deepening of Armenia-EU relations and bringing them closer. "We ar ready to help Armenia to ensure economic advancement, which can fundamentally contribute to the signing of an agreement on Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade the negotiations for which will soon enter a new stage," Catherine Ashton underlined.

Then, Tigran Sargsyan presented Catherine Ashton with the government's priorities and the process of activities for forming the middle class and a civil society and introducing European values in Armenia.

The interlocutors also touched upon other regional issues.
