ANC will not sit idle, it will stage sit-in
Taron Margaryan cannot be a good mayor for the Armenian capital, said former mayor of Yerevan City, member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Vahagn Khachatryan.
"No one can work in an environment that is affected by corruption and lawlessness. I said the same thing about Karen Karapetyan. The results of his work are evident. Trees were cut down, new high-rise buildings were erected in the center of the capital. The government is engaged in populism," he said.
According to the economist, the poverty rate is nearing 60 percent, besides, purchasing power has fallen sharply.
Vahagn Khachatryan does not share the opinion that the ANC is idle.
"If things continue in the same way, we shall stage a sit-in. We are ready for early elections, which may be declared at any time," said the ANC representative.
If the parliament speaker resigns to head an election office of the Republican Party it means the authorities are seriously preparing for elections, with Serzh Sargsyan trying to reinforce the ranks of his supporters," he said.
