Businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan today gave the Special Investigative Service clarifications regarding her statement to mass media outlets, Silva Hambardzumyan told "A1+".

On November 9, Hambardzumyan, who is involved in the mining industry, declared that Governor of Syunik province Surik Khachatryan had stolen gold grinding equipment from her Sipan-1 Company.

Hambardzumyan recalled that she had submitted a message regarding the theft to the Prosecutor General's Office in 2009.

"The case was under the competence of examiner for special and most important cases at the Prosecutor General's Office Andranik Tumaghanyan. Today, the case was included in the SIS proceedings," the businesswoman said.

Touching upon the incident that took place at Armenia-Marriott Hotel yesterday, Mrs. Hambardzumyan stressed that businessman-MP Samvel Sargsyan had been present from the beginning to the end.

"When I came back to my senses after the beating, I saw MP Khachik Manukyan and Governor of Tavush province Armen Ghularyan, but I'm not sure if they were there during the incident or not," the businesswoman said.

She hopes that the eyewitnesses will be brave enough and give correct testimonies against the Syunik governor's actions during the investigation. Mrs. Hambardzumyan says a U.S. citizen, who was at Armenia-Marriot Hotel at that moment, has appealed to the U.S. Embassy with a complaint, and she believes this is also important for the successful outcome of the case.

"I wouldn't like to discredit Armenia-Marriott Hotel. I often visit that hotel and know that there is a camera. Besides that, the hotel employees were also there and they can confirm what happened with testimonies," Mrs. Hambardzumyan said.

Armenia-Marriott Hotel's security officials told presses that they hadn't seen anything and that the cameras hadn't recorded the incident.

The SIS has instigated a criminal case.
