Case against Surik Khachatryan

Politics

The RA Special Investigative Service has instigated a criminal case based on the written message that it received from citizen Silva Hambardzumyan. According to the release, the Governor of Syunik province on 14 November 2011 beat Hambardzumyan at one of the halls of Armenia-Marriott Hotel. S. Hambardzumyan has been offered a pass to a forensic medicine doctor, but has refused to undergo an expert examination. Hambardzumyan says even though she suffered pain, she hasn't received physical injuries.

A criminal case has been instigated according to the attributes of Article 118 of the RA Criminal Code (beating and other violent acts). Preliminary investigation is underway.

The RA Special Investigative Service had called S. Hambardzumyan for the materials being prepared on the grounds of the November 10 press releases.

We remind that on November 10, presses printed S. Hambardzumyan's statement according to which Governor of Syunik province Suren Khachatryan had stolen equipment worth 102 million drams from the Litchvazk-Tey gold mine. The RA Prosecutor General's Office sent the press release to the RA Special Investigative Service to check the indicated facts by the order prescribed by the law.
