CEC releases final results
The Central Election Commission has already announced the final results of the Sunday municipal elections in Armenia's northern Ijevan city.
Vardan Ghalumyan of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) has been elected Mayor of Ijevan with 1638 votes. He will hold the office for a term of four years.
8716 eligible voters participated in the poll, with 5044 casting ballots for the BHK candidate and 3406 for incumbent mayor Varuzhan Nersisyan of the Republican Party of Armenia. 262 ballots were recognized invalid.
After the vote, Varuzhan Nersisyan announced that the BHK had bribed voters and conducted observation mission in the name of non-government organizations, thus affecting the outcome of elections. The BHK refutes the accusations saying the information is fabricated.
