Composer Georgi Movsesyan passes away
People's Artist of Russia, composer Georgi Movsesyan has passed away. He was 67 years old.
Many will remember his songs "Мои года, мое богадство" (Mai Goda, Mai Bogadstvo) and "Проводы любви" (Provodi Lyubvi), which were performed by Vakhtang Kikabidze and made him very popular. The people also loved his "Береза" (Beryoza) performed by the famous Anna German.
Georgi Movsesyan has collaborated with composers Rober Rozhdestvensky and Mikhail Tanich. When President of the Union of Composers of Russia Vladislav Kazenin announced the death of the composer, he said: "Georgi Movsesyan and his creations will always remain in the hearts of millions of Russians."
Georgi Movsesyan was born on August 2, 1945 in Kharkov. He graduated from the Gnesins Music School and has composed numerous songs. Some of his songs were once hits and have become unforgettable.
In 2001, he received the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation.
