S. Sargsyan receives EBRD Vice-President

Serzh Sargsyan met on Friday with Vice-President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Jan Fischer.

The Armenian leader highly praised EBRD's activities in Armenia, saying they are aimed at promoting economic progress in the country.

Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of developing cooperation with the EBRD and expressed hope that Jan Fischer's visit will contribute to bilateral cooperation. Jan Fischer congratulated the Armenian leader on the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence.

"Armenia and the EBRD established cooperation 20 years ago. Since that time, the EBRD has invested more than €600mln in Armenia and has been involved in more than100 projects. The EBRD vice-president welcomed the reforms implemented in Armenia's business environment," said the EBRD Vice-President.

Jan Fischer noted that the EBRD delegation arrived in Armenia to discuss the priorities of its cooperation with Armenia for 2012-2015. He reaffirmed the bank's readiness to continue active cooperation with Armenia and assist the process of reforms.
