Taron Margaryan to become Yerevan Mayor
Yerevan City Council will elect the 54th mayor of Yerevan City on November 15. The decision was taken during today's sitting of the City Council.
The sitting was chaired by acting Mayor Taron Margaryan. The City Council has unanimously agreed that the acting mayor is the best candidate for the post.
"The mayor should love his city and I think that Taron Margaryan meets all criteria. He is experienced, punctual and has worked in top positions," council member Martin Vardazaryan told A1+.
He declined from naming any candidate for deputy mayor's post, saying he did not want to insult anyone.
As reported earlier, following his resignation as Yerevan Mayor, Karen Karapetyan stepped down from the City Council. During today's sitting, acting Mayor Taron Margaryan told the Council members about Karapetyan's decision to quit his membership.
