No Armenians affected in Turkey’s earthquake
No Armenians have been affected by the earthquake that rocked Turkey on Sunday.
According to some sources, two groups of Armenian tourists were in Turkey during the earthquake, one of them was in Mush, the other in Diarbekir. Seven other Armenians from Istanbul were in one of the hotels of Van city.
Though the Armenian Foreign Ministry has not received an official reply from Turkish authorities, the country is said to have declined an offer of aid from Armenia.
An earthquake measuring M 7.1 hit Turkey on October 23, epicenter being the northern part of the country, 38 km north of the city of Van. According to official reports, the death toll in the quake-stricken area has reached 200.
