The goal of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) is to have an absolute majority during the upcoming parliamentary elections. This is what Republican MP Gagik Melikyan said during a press conference today. He also didn't rule out the ANC's presence in parliament and mentioned that the opposition simply has to work hard for that.

The MP says the ANC's latest round-the-clock sitting strike and the freeze of the opposition-government dialogue hurt the ANC's reputation.

Gagik Melikyan predicts that the ANC will soon reject its strategy of demanding the President's resignation, just like it rejected the demand of holding snap parliamentary elections.

Touching upon the return of the first and second presidents of Armenia to politics, Gagik Meliyan mentioned that they have always been active in the political field, even though they have been silent for a long time.

"I haven't seen the first and second presidents play a passive role in politics. Levon Ter-Petrosyan's ten-year absence doesn't mean that he is politically passive. He gradually became active with his silence," Melikyan mentioned and circumvented Kocharyan.
In addition to the Republican Party, Gagik Melikyan sees the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), the ARF and "Country of Law" Party (OEK) in the future parliament, but underestimates "Heritage" faction.

He assures that the HHK and the BHK are not on bad terms, even though there are many rumors about the downturn of their relations.

The Republican MP says those relations are developing normally and it is normal for the political parties to be active ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
