“Armenians need to know the Russian language”
Advisor of the Russian Embassy in Armenia Sergey Averchenko today presented Secretary of the National Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan with Russia's expectations from Armenia and particularly proposed to reconsider Armenia's attitude toward the latest draft law on foreign language schools.
"There weren't too many people supporting that draft law in Armenia," Averchenko mentioned.
The embassy advisor says Armenians need to know Russian language in order to understand Russians better. Russia also expects to see the reactions of Armenian presses to Vladimir Putin's nomination as president. Averchenko says he has been following up on the media and warns that Armenia needs Putin as president.
"Putin made many efforts for the strengthening of Armenian-Russian ties during his presidency," the advisor recalled.
Secretary of the National Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan couldn't please the Russian diplomat and mentioned that the government has no control over print press.
"There are only two presses that always cover Russian-Armenian ties at a high level," the NSC Secretary informed.
Mr. Baghdasaryan assured Sergey Averchenko that the situation could be fixed.
"We will pay much attention to what else can be done to present the media more effectively," Artur Baghdasaryan said.
President of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan informed the embassy official that there was no need for concern because the Armenians in Russia have already made their decision.
"Russian-Armenians are almost 100% ready to vote for Vladimir Putin," Ara Abrahamyan assured.
