Zhirair Avetisyan passes away at 84

Zhirair Avetisyan, well-known Armenian film director, Honored Art Worker of Armenia died at 84 on October 8.

Avetisyan was born on October 22, 1927 in the city of Etchmaidzin.
Zhirayr Avetisyan is one of the first, who joined the TV. Having worked in Moscow for several years, he was more or less aware of the peculiarities of the new art, and invested all his accumulated experience and enthusiasm in the process of establishing the Armenian TV.

The first Armenian film wasdirected by Avetisyan about half a century ago. He was irreplaceable during the start of the new season of the TV: he was a director, and operator, a cutter at the same time.

Avetisyan has shot 36 documentaries and feature films, including "Miro of the Gorge", "Lipstick No. 4", and "Arshak".
