Ministry to blame for landslide
"With a high sense of responsibility, I announce that RA Minister of Transport Manuk Vardanyan is incapable of controlling the sphere of transportation and construction. He destroyed the efforts of "Road Construction" organizations with his lack of professionalism," former head of "Road Construction" department in Yerevan Vahan Arakelyan wrote in his open letter to Serzh Sargsyan.
Arakelyan says Henrik Kochinyan's "ArmAutoConstruction" SNCO at the RA Ministry of Transport is the one responsible for the collapse of the mountain caused by the landslide near Ayrum station on the M6 Armenia-Georgia interstate highway of the sector leading to Bagratashen.
"I am surprised that this strategically important sphere was entrusted to Henrik Kochinyan, who is not only non-professional, but has also used up all the resources of the province for years," as stated in the open letter.
Vahan Arakelyan says there are many landslides in Armenia and that there is a need for serious approach to not see the same thing happen again.
The former head of the department calls on joining the road constructors that have respect for the renovation and normal exploitation of roads in Armenia.
"Demand removing the "ArmAutoConstruction" organization from the ministry and annex it to the RA Government or the RA President as a separate entity of strategic significance," as stated in the letter.
He asks the RA Prosecutor General's Office to accept what is mentioned in the letter as a message related to a crime and proceed with the case.
