While French President Nikolas Sakozy was making a speech at French Square in Yerevan, participants of the nonstop rallies organized by the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) were cleaning the area of Liberty Square and reading the daily news.

"Should the authorities provide equal conditions for everyone, many would participate in the event. Look at the people gathered at French Square. They have been forcibly taken there," historian Ashot Sargsyan told A1+.

Vahan Musinyan says the event t going on at French Square was a mere show and Nikolas Sarkozy was to visit the ralliers at Liberty Square, the most wonderful place in the Armenian capital.

"I am a freethinker and I do not want to join the group at French Square. We want our people to live in a free and dignified country," said Aram Bareghamyan, head of Hrazdan-based office of the Armenian National Congress.

Editor-in-chief of Haykakan Zhamanak daily Nikol Pashinyan said administrative levers had been used to take people to the square. However, as Pashinyan said, the ANC leaders would not mind if the rally participants went to French Square.
