Seyran Ohanyan meets with Admiral Stavridis

On October 5, RA Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan had a meeting with Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General James Apatura during the visit to the NATO central station. The sides discussed the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan, the defense reforms in Armenia and issues related to the Alliance's support to those reforms.

The department of information and public relations of the RA Ministry of Defense reports that the minister placed importance on the Alliance's balanced policy, particularly in the process of sensible resolution of conflicts.

On the same day, Seyran Ohanyan also met with Alliance Commissioner on Actions, U.S. Forces Commander in Europe, Admiral James Stavridis. The sides discussed the process and perspectives of military partnership between NATO and Armenia and U.S. and Armenia. Admiral Stavridis welcomed the Armenian subdivisions' participation in NATO's actions in Kosovo and Afghanistan and expressed willingness to support further development of capabilities.

On October 6, the RA Minister of Defense participated in meetings of defense ministers held within the formats of countries that have provided subdivisions under the Northern Regional Command in Afghanistan.

RA Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan had a short private talk with his Azerbaijani counterpart Safar Abiyev in Brussels and called the latter's attention to the latest ceasefire violations committed by Azerbaijan.
