A couple of minutes ago editor-in-chief of Haykakan Zhamanak daily Nikol Pashinyan announced the start of the opposition rally to the sounds of the national anthem.
It is already the fifth day the opposition bloc Armenian national Congress (ANC) is staging nonstop rallies in Yerevan's Liberty Square in an attempt to put more pressure on the country's authorities.

Though the roads leading to the capital remain closed by the police, hundreds of ANC supporters have got to the capital on foot. ANC activists from Shirak, Aparan, Ashtarak and Eghvard made their way to Liberty Square to join the sit-down demonstrators. They were met by loud cheers and vociferations, "Struggle, struggle until the end!"

Speaking about the wide-spread rumours that the ANC rallies lack clear goals, Pashinyan said, "We pursue definite goals, with the conduction of pre-term elections being our key demand. Only through snap elections will it be possible to topple Serzh Sargsyan and his administration."

The ANC representative says their demand stems from the constitution - the organic law of the country. However, he underlined that an organism works badly if it has a headache.

"Today Armenia is like a sick organism that uses 50 percent of its brain, therefore it needs fresh elections," said Pashinyan.
