Many MPs in parliament?
There was an unprecedented amount of deputies at the National Assembly today. Attending the first hour of the session were MPs Tigran Torosyan, Samvel Alexanyan and Tigran Arzakantsyan, who rarely show up to the parliamentary sessions.
While the MPs were being registered, Arzakantsyan had a hard time pressing the button to register. "Come to the parliament more often," NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan said.
It turned out that the MPs had shown up to parliament for the visit of Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon Nabih Berri.
In his speech, Berri called on the governments of both countries to engage in more active cooperation. Touching upon Armenian-Turkish relations, Berri mentioned that the Turkish parliament should rush to ratify the Protocols signed in 2009.
"Seeing the solution to all types of disagreements, moving forward with the long-term opening of the land border between Armenia and Turkey and quickly reaching a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are in the interest of all Arab nations, taking into account the view of the people of the region and the establishment of friendly ties," the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament announced.
Nabih Berri ended his speech by calling "Long live the RA National Assembly, Armenia and Lebanon".
There were very few MPs left in the hall after Berri left.
