“Son” to go against “parent”?
During his speech at Freedom Square, RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan also touched upon the potential competition between the Republican Party of Armenia and the Prosperous Armenia Party in Armenia's political field and considered it positive, even though PPA supported the Republican Party's monopoly in the political field through unfair elections.
"The PPA is a a more natural party with a leader that is economically active in the Kotayk province and has the support and electorate. I don't even want to talk about or mention the name of the the third coalition force, the PPA's small "brother"," the RA First President announced as he referred to the Country of Law Party.
Levon Ter-Petrosyan called the Republican Party of Armenia a band of opportunists that was established in 1998 with the objective of coming to power, and it did.
Ter-Petrosyan assured that as a party, the ANC must come to terms with the PPA. "I don't think the PPA will be linked to Robert Kocharyan. Of course, people say, and that might be true, that the PPA was created by Robert Kocharyan. Even if so, the "son" may leave the "parent" aside."
Touching upon the Wikileaks releases, Levon Ter-Petrosyan mentioned that it was a wonderful system that ensured the confidentiality of the source of information and released valuable archival documents.
"Recently Wikileaks discovered a package of 250,000 documents sent from U.S. diplomats, of which 2,000 referred to Armenia. This is an actual archive and there is a practice in civilized countries according to which archival documents are released 30-40 years later. They can have a serious impact on the interior political life of countries like Armenia due to the fact that Armenia has tremendous issues related to rights, politics and economy," the RA First President announced.
He also stressed that these revelations were serious analytical materials for the opposition and a blow to the government whose steps are evaluated not only by the opposition, but the U.S. as well. "That was the greatest gift for us."
Levon Ter-Petrosyan also announced that experts would be speaking about issues related to culture, education and more during the round-the-clock rallies.
