Republicans win in mayoral elections in Armenia
Republican candidates won in the Sunday municipal elections in the Armenian towns of Ghazaravan, Maralik and Eghegnut.
Republican Hayk Azatyan scored 237 votes in Ghazaravan, with his nonpartisan rival Saribek Mkhitaryan getting only 53 votes.
294 out of 409 eligible voters participated in the poll. Four ballots were recognized invalid. In Eghegnut, Republican Misha Hovhannisyan won freelance Nairi Poghosyan, with the difference in votes being 229 to 30.
Artak Gevorgyan was the only candidate to run in the mayoral election in Maralik. He got 49 votes, with 30 ballots being considered as invalid, the Central Electoral Commission said on its website.
