Doctors of pedagogy
During today's session, the academic council of the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan decided to grant the ranking of honorary doctor of the Pedagogical University to foreign member of the Department of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the RA National Academy of Sciences Yervand Azatyan and Head of the Department of Armenology at Michigan State University, doctor of philological sciences, Professor Kevork Bardakchian.
Yervand Azatyan and Kevork Bardakchian expressed gratitude for the honorary ranking.
The prize was a pomegranate symbolizing the festival, as well as certificates and letters of gratitude.
Inter-university "Nreni" Festival
The annual "Nreni" inter-university song festival was held at the Armenian State Pedagogical University. This was the fifth festival and this time it was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia.
The festival had brought together students of several state and private universities in Yerevan who presented ethnic, folk and patriotic songs. The jury selected the contest winners in the Best Voice, Best Performance, Best Accompaniment and Stage Art categories.
Student of the Yerevan State Institute of Cinema and Theater Susanna Melkonyan won first place, followed by student of the V. Sargsyan Military Institute of the RA Ministry of Defense David Khachatryan in second and student of the Pedagogical University Mher Galstyan in third.
The jury granted a special prize to two participants, including student of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory Edgar Avetisyan and student of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Bryusov Hasmik Arakelyan.
