Activists of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) today held a notification march, informing Yerevan citizens of the opposition's rally to be held in the city's Liberty Square on Sept. 23.

Congratulating passers-by on Independence Day, the HAK activists invited them to attend the opposition's rally and join their demand for snap elections.

Gevorg Gevorgyan, board member of "Democratic Motherland" party, says the fight is led for true independence.

"We became independent in 1991 but today we live in an authoritarian country. It is highly important for each Armenian to understand that the struggle stems from their interests. Our primary objective is to hold early elections in Armenia," he said.

No incident was reported during the procession. Similar events will be held on Thursday and Friday in different communities of the capital.
