HAK congratulates the Armenian people
The Armenian National Congress (HAK) sent a congratulatory message to the Armenian people on the occasion of the glorious Independence Day.
"September 21 marks the 20thanniversary of Armenia's independence.
Independence is the first guarantee for the survival and prosperity of any nation and each individual forming a part of that nation. The histories of nations are nothing but struggle for gaining independence or for the advancement and reinforcement of statehood. Independence Day is considered a grand holiday on the holiday calendar. That is exactly the reason why all nations are ready to make big sacrifices to gain and maintain independence.
Since its declaration of independence, the Republic of Armenia has seen the sharpest issues and the biggest challenges in the history of post-Soviet, newly independent countries. Those issues were solved brilliantly, if we take into account the effects of the heaviest earthquake, the economic blockade, the imposed war, the large number of refugees and Armenia's scarce recourses. The greatest resource for solving the issues and confronting the challenges was the people's unreserved confidence in a legitimate government and the democratization of public-political life. The country that struggled and led to the de facto independence of Nagorno-Karabakh, and the country that implemented the most radical reforms was able to be considered an "isle of democracy". Armenia's independence has brilliantly passed the test of development and its first steps.
September 21 marks the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence. For over 10 years, Armenia has come along and is now facing the most dangerous challenge for independence, which is the illegitimate government that distorts the meaning and function of independence with its subjective and devastating effects. It is all Armenians' duty to overcome this obstacle that has distorted the meaning of independence in order to leave the coming generations a juridical and dignified country that serves the interests of its citizens."
