"Sometimes Armenia misunderstands our approaches on free and fair elections," German Ambassador to Armenia Hans Jokhen-Schmidt announced during a press conference today. He recalled that Armenia arbitrarily took on the responsibility of holding free and fair elections.

The Ambassador recalled the 2008 presidential elections, which were followed by the events of March 1 and mentioned that the European Union-member states would be more engaged in the upcoming elections.

Speaking of the state of democracy in Armenia, the Ambassador referred to the government's assurances that television stations would become more pluralistic after the transition from analogous to digital television.
