Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Razmik Zohrabyan doesn't think he is one of the people who believed that everything was supposed to be good after Armenia's declared its independence in 1991.

During today's press conference, Zohrabyan said it was impossible to compare the situation in the 1990s with the current political and economic state of the country. "We faced many difficulties. At least we ideologists knew that the transition from the system of the USSR to a liberal economy would be very turbulent, but many were dreaming," said Mr. Zohrabyan.

According to him, all difficulties can be overcome.

As an achievement in the past 20 years of independence, he mentioned the establishment of democracy and "pluralism". "We started from scratch and are still in the process. Many parties existed and perished, and there are many without names. For instance, the HHK exists and has remained stable," said Zohrabyan.

Touching upon the interior political developments, the HHK Vice-Chairman mentioned that he expected seeing active political figures after the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He also didn't forget to speak of the HAK-authorities dialogue and mentioned that it is continuing at the rallies. "We are already seeing the fruits of that dialogue. For instanace, there are no more conflicts during rallies or events like March 1," said Mr. Zohrabyan.

He assured that the HAK's demands favor the HHK, except for snap elections. "There is no political demand for that," said Razmik Zohrabyan.
