In a short while, the Hrant Dink institution will hold the "Hrant Dink" international awards at the Kemal Reshid Rey concert hall in Istanbul at 20:00 local time.

The awards are taking place for the third time on September 15, marking the birthday of the late editor-in-chief of "Agos" newspaper Hrant Dink.

Every year, the award is handed to two recipients, one from Turkey and the other from abroad. The candidates can be those who fight against racisim, violence and discrimination by putting their lives on the line.

Editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" Nikol Pashinyan is one of this year's candidates and was nominated by the Independent Journalists Network NGO.

In 2009, journalist for the Turkish "Taraf" newspaper Alper Keormiush and Israeli journalist, publicist Amira Has received the "Hrant Dink" international prize, while Spanish judge Baltasar Garson Real and the "Denial by Turkey's Conscience" movement won the prize in 2010.

Hrant Dink would have turned 57 years old today. He was killed in front of "Agos" newspaper edition's building on January 19, 2007.
