HAK calls on the readers
Statement by the Armenian National Congress (HAK)
"Armenia's court, which sells itself, fulfilled another one of the regime's political orders against "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily newspaper, which is one of the most common and popular mediums of free press in Armenia. The court illegitimately upheld the appeal filed by three oligarch authority figures-Samvel Alexanyan, Ruben Hayrapetyan and Levon Sargsyan-and fined daily newspaper over 6 million drams.
Condemning the court's verdict dictated by the illegimate regime, the Armenian National Congress declares that this, like in similar cases, is a cynical and cowardly step to silence free speech and get revenge over an opposition newspaper. The court's verdict is unique and startling in that the newspaper edition printed the article on the oligarchs by making a reference to its source in Moscow, and the latter has publicly confirmed that several times.
The Armenian National Congress calls on all its supporters and readers of "Haykakan Zhamanak" to show active participation in the editorial staff's fundraiser to get the beloved newspaper edition out of this financially difficult situation and to lead the regime's goal of closing the newspaper through bankruptcy to failure."
