“Fruitless dialogue is better than March 1 events”
Aghasi Arshakyan, who has been a deputy of the former Supreme Council and the National Assembly, positively assesses the dialogue between the HAK and the authorities.
"A fruitless dialogue is better than leading things up to events like those of March 1," Arshakyan announced during a press conference today.
Arshakyan assured that he had not been affiliated with any political force in the past 4-5 years and is not preparing to do so.
He also mentioned that he sees three real forces in Armenia's political field, of which two are pro-government and the other is the HAK. "The actions that the HAK took gave it the opportunity to reveal the images of certain political forces whom we had been serving for years," said Mr. Arshakyan, adding that he wouldn't like to mention any names since he might have contacts with them later on.
As a deputy with great experience in the political field, Aghasi Arshakyan wishes to see Communists in the upcoming parliament, and not ARF deputies. He says Armenia's greatest achievement in the past 20 years was the formation of the Armenian army, despite the latest tragic events that took place. He talked more about the flaws that have caused the country serious harm.
For instance, during Robert Kocharyan's term, Armenia suffered the most painful loss when the government robbed 4 billion dollars from the people in the course of 4-5 years. "All the scoundrels will be brought to justice some day, but we need to stay healthy in order to see them suffer," said Arshakyan.
Aghasi Arshakyan said he was in poor health condition and asked not to talk too much about politics because he was now more interested in sports, for example, swimming.
