Mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetyan has presented his comments on the organizing and gardening of separate sectors of Yerevan to heads of districts.

"People have to realize that the city reflects us. The organizing of nearby areas is not very expensive. All it takes is care. All pieces of land should be cultivated," mentioned the mayor during a subsequent working consultation.

Summing up the Saturday cleaning days being organized in the capital, Karen Karapetyan called on active participation in the citywide cleaning day set for Saturday, September 17. As for the construction and renovation that is gaining momentum, Karapetyan mentioned that 400,000 square meters of road has been asphalted and 150,000 meters of cracked roads have been filled.

Touching upon the projects for renovating underground passageways, the mayor assigned to organize the process of handing over the passageways to businessmen through a tender.

As far as city transportation is concerned, the mayor was informed that the draft of the new railway network was being developed and 66 new Chinese buses will be imported to Yerevan in the months to come.

According to the department of information and public relations of Yerevan Municipality, there will be exterior and artistic lighting on major streets in Yerevan ahead of the celebrations dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence. To ensure bright lighting at Republic Square, the 40 foreseen light columns have been replaced with new, double powered light bulbs.
