Detained officers charged with murder
On September 9, a court in Armenia's Syunik marz (province) issued an arrest warrant for two army officers detained in the death case of serviceman Aghasi Abrahamyan.
The officers are charged with Article 375 of the Armenian Criminal Code (misuse of power and administrative dereliction).
Abrahamyan, 19, was brought unconscious to a military hospital on August 26, where he died later in the day. Later medical examination revealed marks of violence on his body.
Karabakh Defense Army serviceman Lendrush Nazlukhanyan was accused of premeditated murder of his co-serviceman Hayk Mkrtchyan in line with Article 104 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
The investigator's petition to arrest Nazlukhanyan has been sent to the First Instance Court of Syunik marz on September 10.
Mkrtchyan. 19, was killed at a military unit in Askeran, Karabakh on September 7. He died of a gunshot wound inflicted by fellow serviceman Lendrush Nazlukhanyan as a result of an argument.
