CEC Chairman Garegin Azaryan dies at 50
Chairman of the Central Election Commission Garegin Azaryan died of heart attack on Friday evening.
He had recently been reelected as the CEC Chairman.
Garegin Azaryan was born in 1961 in Yerevan. In 1986 he graduated from the Yerevan State Engineering University. He occupied the post of CEC Chairman since July 2003. In 1990ies, he was an advisor at the Armenian National Assembly. In 2008-2009 Azaryan was the president of the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO). He was married and was a father of two children.
