It isn't reasonable to demand Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan's resignation for the incidents taking place in the army, says chairman of the NA standing committee on defense, national security and internal affairs, ARF MP Hrair Karapetyan.

"Seyran Ohanyan is a person who is dedicated to the army. He has served in the army and I know about his programs that are truly aimed at changing the army so that each young man finds his place in the Armenian army within two to four years," Hrair Karapetyan announced at a press conference today.

If there is no need to demand Seyran Ohanyan's resignation, isn't there a demand for Serzh Sargsyan's resignation as the Commander-in-Chief? In response to "A1+"'s question, Karapetyan said "the issue shouldn't be politicized" and mentioned that everyone must express their viewpoints on the incidents taking place in the army.

"I think Seyran Ohanyan will express his position upon his return. As for the president, you can ask his press service," the MP advised.

Let us remind that yesterday the National Assembly held closed-door hearings on the assaults and murders taking place in the army.

Moving from the topic of the army to political affairs, Hrair Karapetyan mentioned that politics will be heated in the fall and the Dashnaktsutyun will play an active role.

"We are on the threshold of the pre-electoral period and that heated struggle will get even hotter until the end of that period," Karapetyan predicted.

According to him, the HAK-authorities dialogue will lead to the allocation of spots for the HAK in parliament. "If the HAK participated in the parliamentary elections and had seats in parliament, the events of March 1 wouldn't have taken place," Hrair Karapetyan said.
