The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is very similar to the Kosovo issue. The Kosovo issue entered the stage of settlement after the U.S. was left as the only mediator," former NA chairman Tigran Torosyan announced in a speech at the conference on "Resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict".

According to him, the conflict has several sides. Armenia and Azerbaijan must combine efforts to solve the issue of territorial integrity, and the right to self-determination refers to Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.

Touching upon the process of negotiations over the NK conflict resolution, Tigran Torosyan mentioned that Armenia must focus on the primary issue on the agenda, and that is the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. Only after that should negotiations be led. Karabakh must become a part of the negotiations and Armenia must continue to participate in the negotiations.

Doctor of political science Tigran Torosyan came to the conclusion that professionals should conduct studies for multilateral and intricate issues like the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and the results can be used for making political decisions.

Torosyan says the mediators want to lead the conflict to a solution, but they are first and foremost in the pursuit of their own interests.

"In Karabakh's case, Russia and the United States have serious interests in this region and that is why the conflict remains unsolved," Torosyan noted.
