EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus is in Yerevan
On September 7, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received the European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Ambassador Philippe Lefort.
Congratulating Mr. Lefort on his appointment, Edward Nalbandian voiced confidence that he would contribute to the further reinforcement of Armenia-EU relations.
The Armenian FM noted that Armenia-EU relations have always been one of the priority directions of Armenia's foreign policy, and special attention has been paid to all aspects of Armenia-EU cooperation.
The two men discussed the negotiations carried out within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy and the Eastern Partnership Program, noting that great progress has been registered in the recent period.
Edward Nalbandian and Philippe Lefort also referred to the talks on the Association Agreement, the forthcoming negotiations on the facilitation of the visa regime and creation of the free trade zone.
The interlocutors attached importance to the conduct of the Eastern Partnership summit later this month.
They also discussed the latest developments in the Karabakh conflict settlement process. In that context Philippe Lefort expressed EU's support to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group towards peaceful resolution of the conflict, RA MFA press service reports.
