Military Prosecutor investigating murder for his soul’s sake
Law-enforcers are gathering corroborative evidence to disclose those guilty of the non-combat death of Aghasi Abrahamyan, a 18-year-old serviceman who was beaten to death in a military unit in Nagorno-Karabakh on August 26.
Talking to reporters on Monday, Armenian Military Prosecutor Gagik Kostanyan did not rule out that the number of accused people would increase.
"Anyone who is connected with the crime will certainly and maximally be brought to responsibility. I can guarantee that. It is not only a crime but also immorality," he said excluding the factor of protégé.
The military prosecutor refuted media reports that Armenia President Serzh Sargsyan's godson is involved in the murder case.
He said that law enforcers are presently engaged in disclosing all culprits and assessing the degree of guilt of each criminal.
"We are doing our utmost to exclude such incidents and punish all those guilty in the murder case. We are not doing it to gain public confidence; we are doing it for our soul's sake because each boy killed in the army is our son," he concluded.
An officer has been arrested in a criminal investigation into Abrahamyan's death. Another serviceman is facing serious charges.
