Commander of Shushi special battalion, Artsakh war veteran Jirayr Sefilyan says Armenian people are enslaved by the idea of Artsakh's independence which was originally invented for the "ear of outer forces."

"People are congratulating each other on the 20th anniversary of Artsakh's independence, which is unacceptable for me," Sefilyan told A1+.
The Karabakh war veteran says Armenians had better celebrate day of unification.

"For 70 years now we have passed the idea of unification from one generation to the other. Our generation was lucky enough to realize the idea. It is wrong to misrepresent it after such painstaking efforts," he said.

Sefilyan, who has greatly contributed to the liberation of Artsakh, is not inclined to separate Artsakh from Armenia.

"I am deeply concerned about the grave social condition of our people; it does not matter whether their live in Javakh, Artsakh or Armenia. The situation is deplorable everywhere though things are relatively better in Artsakh," he said blaming Armenian authorities for the grave situation.

"We do not live in an independent state, we are governed by a regime that tortures our people. We must hastily get rid of this regime, thus laying the foundation for a national statehood."

Speaking about Armenia's home political issues, Sefilyan said, "there are two political forces in the political scene, one is well organized while the other is broken up."

The first has a form of a pyramid and represents pro-government forces and opposition parties, including the Armenian National Congress.

"This pyramid has its rules of game. The main actor, director and producer of the game is the despotic ruler. The second scattershot force represents the oppressed people whose primary task is to earn their daily bread," Sefilyan concluded.
