Will Heritage boycott NA fall session?
The Heritage party will convene an extended session on September 5 to decide its participation in the fall session of the National Assembly.
"If we decide to participate in the session, we shall also consider the format and slogan of participation," Heritage MP Larisa Alaverdayn told A+.
The party has been boycotting the NA sessions since February 28 2011 in protest against what it sees as Serzh Sargsyan's efforts to tighten his grip on power. The five deputies representing the Heritage party demonstratively walked out of National Assembly on February 28 following Sargsyan's new power-sharing agreement with his junior coalition partners, the Orinats Yerkir and Prosperous Armenia (BHK) parties.
The agreement commits Orinats Yerkir and the BHK to supporting the incumbent president in the 2013 presidential election. It also states that the two parties as well as Sargsyan's Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) will have an even greater representation in the next National Assembly to be elected in May 2012.
