The international community will not recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh unless Armenia displays a correct position in diplomatic, state and political relations, says Heritage party MP Larisa Alaverdyan.

"It is already 20 years our people have been fighting for Karabakh, but to date no concept has been formulated on Karabakh. The existing approaches only distort the essence of the problem," she said.

"Today we seem to be ashamed of what we have done. But what could we do? Could we allow them to kill us outside our homes?" said the Heritage parliamentarian.
The rights of the Artsakh people are violated today. Besides, the independence of the last 20 years is periled.

Larisa Alaverdyan does not understand what Serzh Sargsyan meant by saying "if hostilities resume, Armenia will recognize Artsakh's independence."

"If Armenia does not recognize Karabakh, how can we expect other countries to do it?" she said.

The Heritage MP advises Armenian authorities to find the format or method that will enable to make political concessions, given the fact that half of Nagorno-Karabakh is occupied by Azerbaijan.

On September 2, 1991, the joint session of the Nagorno Karabakh regional council and the council of people's deputies of Shahumyan region proclaimed the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, adopting the Declaration of Independence.
