Serzh Sargsyan pays tribute to fallen soldiers
The Nagorno Karabakh Republic celebrates the 20th anniversary of independence on September 2.
On September 2, 1991, the joint session of the Nagorno Karabakh regional council and the council of people's deputies of Shahumyan region proclaimed the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and adopted the Declaration of Independence.
Armenian top brass is presently in Stepanakert to participate in the festive events.
According to the RA President's press service, "Armenian President today marched from the Revival Square to the Stepanakert Memorial Complex together with NKR President Bako Sahakyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, former NKR Presidents Robert Kocharyan and Arkadi Ghukasyan. They were followed by guests from Armenia and abroad."
Serzh Sargsyan paid tribute to the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Artsakh's independence, laid a wreath at the tombs of the victims of the Liberation War and the first Chairman of the NKR Supreme Council Arthur Mkrtchyan.
