Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the disbanded fact-finding group investigating the March 2008 post-election unrest, is surprised at the statement of the head of the Special Investigation Service's Investigation Group [Vahagn Harutyunyan] who denies army's involvement in the deadly clashes.

"Former Defense Minister Mikael Harutyunyan personally informed the fact-finding group that the Ministry had allotted buses on March 1 which were accompanied by armed soldiers. It means that the buses were accompanied by gunners and the investigation group was to have sent the submachine guns to examination," Kocharyan told A1+.

Further, he reminded that the fact-finding group had already revealed the involvement of armed forces in the post-election turmoil.

"Arthur Matevosyan proved it in his footage. Besides, if Mikael Harutyunyan says there were gunners, why shouldn't we believe him? On the morning of March 1 these gunners were in the center of Yerevan. The investigation group failed to fulfill its duties and sent the submachine guns to examination. They only examined the weapons used by the police."

Regarding Vahagn Harutyunyan's statement that they have requested international structures to assist in the conduct of international expertise in connection with the March 1 clashes and to identify people shown in a YouTube footage, Andranik Kocharyan said, "If the investigation group does not want to reveal the clashes, what is the use of inviting international experts?"

Kocharyan says he has no wish to comment on Harutyunyan's statements as he finds it pointless.
"It is high time Vahagn Harutyunyan were made accountable. He has already proved with his actions that the investigation group is not competent. Let Serzh Sargsyan contemplate over Vahagn Harutyunyan's statements. The whole responsibility today lies with Serzh Sargsyan. At his request, the SIS announced the page of March 1 as closed."
