"We stay true to our course and the position on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations without preconditions. Turkey must find the strength inside to respect its commitments and not give in to the demands that are dishonorable for a country that considers itself a modern country in the region," Serzh Sargsyan announced during a meeting with diplomats.

He also stressed that the Turkish side must also realize that there won't always be an opportunity for these Protocols.

"Most of Armenia's friendly countries had advised us to wait until the end of Turkey's parliamentary elections. So, in the next couple of months we will see whether Turkey has changed its approaches after the parliamentary elections or not, even though I must say that the past two months haven't instilled any optimism. Based on those comments, we will also determine future steps for the Protocols," Serzh Sargsyan said.

According to him, many may think "Armenia should regret taking the initiative to normalize relations with Turkey because Turkey refused to fulfill its commitment, and Armenia spent large political capital."

"I think those gathered in this hall understand that that initiative raised Armenia's reputation in the international arena and dispelled Armenia's illusions of the new, modern-day Turkey, revealing the current manifestations of the policy that Armenians have seen throughout history," Sargsyan added.
