The Communist Party of Armenia will definitely participate in either the snap or subsequent parliamentary elections in Armenia.

First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia Ruben Tovmasyan told "A1+" that he gives preference to subsequent elections, especially if snap elections are held under the Armenian National Congress's initiative. One of the main demands for the ANC's dialogue with the ruling coalition is snap parliamentary elections, but Tovmasyan says that won't lead the people anywhere.

"There has always been the idea of holding snap elections since elections in Armenia have not been fair, democratic and transparent. Why is this issue urgent for the Armenian National Congress? I think it is because the people have simply sensed that the ANC can't do anything. The Congress knows very well that the more time passes by, the more people will be disappointed and won't follow the ANC," says the CPA First Secretary.

Ruben Tovmasyan is sure that if the elections are not falsified and the people have the chance to vote, the CPA will cross the 15 percent threshold and will have the place it deserves in parliament. "Communists will raise voices about issues that concern the people," Tovmasyan underlined, adding that he would also like to see socialist parties in parliament.

In its 38th congress, the CPA discussed the issue of participating in the elections and created a preparatory commission that is already working.
