Opposition in Libya has refused Muammar Gaddafi's proposal to negotiate the transfer of power, Associated Press reported.

""We do not recognize them, deal exclusively as criminals. And we will arrest them soon," said Libya's National Transitional Council's Minister of Information, Mahmoud Shammam.

He also said that the talk of a diplomatic settlement of the situation is an "impossible dream" for the Gaddafi and his teammates.

Gaddafi's spokesman Moussa Ibrahim expressed willingness to negotiation with rebels on August 28. One of Gaddafi's sons was to act as a mediator between the deposed leader and the opposition.

Rebels are going to attack Gaddafi's birthplace of Sirte where Gaddafi is supposedly hiding. Sirte is about 400km (250 miles) from Tripoli.
