“We’re in the same boat”
Chairman of the RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan met with the delegation led by President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski who is in Armenia on an offiical visit. Attending the meeting were the heads of the NA standing committees and heads of factions, reports the NA press service.
Hovik Abrahamyan stated with content the regular Armenian-Polish interstate relations, especially in the past one and a half year and praised the dynamics of political dialogue between both countries.
The parliamentary speaker considered the development of inter-parliamentary relations necessary, mentioning that the National Assembly has an Armenia-Poland parliamentary friendship group.
According to him, cooperation in this sphereis not only limited to the bilateral format, but refers to the circles of cooperation between Armenia and the EU, the partnership between the delegations of both countries within the framework of international parliamentary structures, including the newly created Euronest parliamentary format.
The NA Chairman mentioned that the Eastern Partnership is opening a new perspective for Armenia. According to him, the negotiations for the Association Agreement are a success and efforts are being made for the creation of a deep, comprehensive, free trade zone. This will not only reinforce the cooperation between Armenia and the EU, but will also stimulate the efficient continuation of reforms in the country.
In this context, the NA Chairman attached importance to the summit of leaders of Eastern Partnership member countries in Poland on September 30 during which a joint declaration will be adopted.
Hovik Abrahamyan said Armenia placed importance on a balanced document, particularly referring to formulations related to the resolution of conflicts.
Hovik Abrahamyan expressed concern over Azerbaijan's destructive behavior since that country refuses to participate in the multilateral Eastern Partnership programs with Armenia.
The NA Chairman expressed confidence that Poland's presidency would register progress in relations with Eastern neighbors.
The President of Poland underlined that Poland, as a EU presiding country, is ready to support armenia and share its experience in the Euro integration process, mentioning that Poland is interested in seeing Armenia achieve success in this direction. "We're in the same boat," said Bronislaw Komorowski.
